When I got my PS3 for Christmas a few years ago (2011) it came in a 3 game bundle. Fifa 11 which I wanted. GT5, which massively turned me onto the series, and resistance 2. I got into this game massively. Yeah graphics weren't too good, but I loved the story. Picked the 1st one up when I saw it while out but never liked it at all.
When resistance 3 came out I was dead excited, I had it for my birthday with the walkthrough guide (2 weeks after release) and, well, many say about how bad it is. Honestly, the story wasn't as good, but the online is the best FPS I have ever played. COD or others are usually unbalanced and feel really, 'uncomfortable or unrealistic to play' if you get my drift, but I loved it, gutted the servers were shut down.
Insomnia said they weren't going to make another one, but a few months ago sony brought the rights to it. So, will we see a resi 4? or a game collection for PS4?
Anyone else played the series?

First things first, please don't refer to it as Resi 4, we already have one of those and it was a masterpiece. No, I can't honestly say I've played it. When Resistance was the big thing I was still on 360, so I was playing Gears of War. I've heard it's good, with the classic trilogy 'the ending sucked balls' flaw. I can see them doing an HD collection, purely because this is what developers have discovered stupid people buy. If I want to play an old game, I'll normally get the original console. If the game is rare or has become ludicrously expensive since it's become 'retro' then fair enough, but I'm willing to bet you could pick up all three Resistance games for less than £20 from CEX. I do hate how quickly servers die though, I know the Ridge Racer 7 servers are still up, that's 8 years now. Pretty sure the COD4 servers are still up too (could be wrong on that one though). I know the MW3 Wii servers are still available.

the amount of times people think im on about resident evil lol The ending was crap, all the massive irreversible danger and now we're all fine, and they've disappeared with no reason? yeah good job. less than £20 actually, even the new one goes for a fiver lol, only reason i'd get it on ps4 is if they reopen servers the only game I have with servers still up are GT. I signed up for PSN 1 year after I got the console. Loved playing motorstorm, gutted to find out the servers were down

Yeah, well Resident Evil went downhill after Resident Evil 4 anyway. Japanese developers forgot that what people in the West liked were the fact they were Japanese games. When they turn a beloved Zombie Survival Horror franchise where Ammo is scarce and health is virtually non-existent into a set-piece laden cover shooter you start noticing how awful the writing is, since you have no gameplay to focus on.
You want a shite ending? MGS4. I loved that game, even the long drawn out cutscenes. Then the ending comes and everything gets wrapped into a nice, neat little bow with no more evil ever. I hate those clean-cut endings. MGS2 has retroactively become one of my favourites purely because it's one of those games that ends and just goes 'You figure it out, I'm not explaining shit.' It's BS start to finish but now I'm older and know about conspiracy theories and corporate agendas I have a completely different take on the story than when I was 18 when I played it originally when my thought was "Who's this blonde dick? Where the fuck has Snake gone?"
One of the worst ones for servers was Frontlines: Fuel of War. 32 player online back when it was released was rare on consoles. It was kicking for 2 weeks, then COD came out. Boom, servers died a death there and then, I think the servers went down less than 6 months after launch.

I think that's what has made me go off 'casual gaming' there's just no good stories out there. Resi, I mean, you learn about the characters, grow attached, and at the end of the second game BOOM! have that, kills his captain. Those last words will always stay with me lol

Did it make you cry?
There are a few games that've done that to me, the first bit of The Last of Us and Final Fantasy 7 spring to mind. Then there are games that just leave you feeling like shit like Mafia 2. That ending was awful (miserable, not terrible).

Oh, I know, I've already been told how it's supposedly an epic finale (especially compared with 3).
You know, everyone craps on The Run. Sure, it's a 2 hour game. Maybe 5 if you go back through on Extreme. I completed the game twice on 360 (bought a really crap game at launch and then it was part-ex that and £1 for The Run on release) and once again on PS3. I enjoyed it.
It was too short, the main voice actor guy was far too quiet, the best level in the game was in the demo, sure, lots of issues, but if you go in knowing it's short it's not the worst racing game I've ever played. If the servers are still up it's pretty badass online as well.
Still, after playing the demo I expected so much more. There were only 2 crazy levels, the mountain and the NYC finale. The rubberbanding was ridiculous, especially on Extreme. That's the one thing I detest about modern NFS games, Most Wanted was so broken with the Rubberbanding, when a MW car wrecks, then accelerates immediately to 350mph and closes right back up on your rear bumper. Bullshit...

shooting his captain, 'i's been an honour sir' is just so badass, you stare at the screen like 'whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!'
some of the levels were fun, but fo £40, nope. story was awful. So what, you beat 2 girls and your going mental celebrating, then you complete the game, survive death and get how many millions, and you say 'Yes' with a little fistbump, that pissed me off so much. Online was crazy, I only played a few games, finished off the podium once and won my first race lol, crazy, but you just need to know how to behave around all the idiots
