Hey, so I figured I would create a thread for this, and basically, it is a simple discussion about the way we have configured our input settings on GT6. Of course, please state which input device you have, and why things are configured in the way they are for you.
So, DISCUSS!!!

Input Device: DS3
Throttle: R2 trigger Brakes: L2 trigger Reverse: Triangle Handbrake: Circle Nitro: Cross (X) Look Back: L1 Lights: R1 Horns: Square RA Button: Wipers Steering: LA Stick
Now my gimmick... Upshift: RA down Downshift: RA up
Does it seem odd to anyone that my Right Analogue Stick is used for gear changes? I got the idea from when I watched the 24 Hours of Daytona one year, after I started to use in for GT5 when I began online racing properly for gtplanet on manual gearbox.
Originally I had RA up for upshifting and RA down for downshifting, but upon seeing how the sequential gearbox actually works, I switched it to how I have it set up now. And it makes sense to have it that way too, if you think about it carefully...

No I've heard of others doing it before, I think DS3 aliens do it and as its a flick its more comfortable

Well downshifts are generally quicker than upshifts, and it's quicker to push against the RA stick than to pull it down, so it makes sense really. And besides, I noticed I was messing up downshifts where my thumb would slip off having RA down as downshift, resulting in a few head-ons with the wall at certain tracks.
I know some people use the RA stick for accel/brake, but R2/L2 feels more natural... X and Square are too on/off for me, I like a little progression and modulation.
I do have to configure look left/right onto the D-pad at some point though. And do something about the headlights, perhaps have them as toggle rather than flash and toggle.

r1 change gear up L1 down r2 throttle L2 brake , left stick to turn , right stick throttle up down brake . x throttle square brake triangle reverse circle hand brake . set my pad up like that so i can drive 3 different ways if want in a race . but i like using stick to turn buttons for throttle and brake's and reverse. R1 L1 gears .

I use the Logitech GTDF as such; Throttle: Throttle... Brake: Brakes... O: Handbrake R2/L2: Gears (Mainly used in FGT and LMP/Group C Side gear stick: Gears (Mainly in touring cars and rally cars) X: Flash lights Square: Switch lights Triangle: Quick reversing (Mainly in rally) Left: Look left Right: Look right Down: Look back Up: Ghost car L1: Can't remember R1: Window wipers L3: Horn R3: Nitrous Big centre button: Horn Select: Change view

I hate the inconsistency of the stick. In a race the clutch is a lot slower, so i'd rather have a semi auto box, but the game seems to act weird with it.
Or does the DFGT have the stick that goes up and down? Not through each individual gear?

Yes, it's a side stick. Just a + and - one.

i'd like it if the G27 actually had that feature for the sticks too

I honestly prefer the clutch and the stick. Does the G29 work on PS3 and PS4?
