OK, I remember when this service used to be worth the money. Before the PS4 when it catered purely for PS3 and Vita, the old rule of thumb was simply games that had received high enough ratings (even though I don't believe in review scores) would be included and you'd get approximately 3 per month.
The games were satisfying and plentiful, I remember getting Battlefield 3 and NFS: Most Wanted in consecutive months. There were always occasions when you'd get a dodgy indie game or two, but they were normally backed up by a killer title. Hell, I even remember mocking my Xbox 360 owning friends when they got Assassin's Creed 2 for free, in the same month PS+ provided Assassin's Creed 3. Remember, despite their titles there were 2 other AC games released between 2 and 3.
But I digress. Now it seems that they're simply phoning it in. I've received nothing but crap over the course of the last 4-5 months. If I remember correctly the best game I've actually had was Yakuza 4. Yakuza is a fantastic game. As a Shenmue fan it felt different yet surprisingly familiar. I can't say the same for some of the other titles I've received. Sherlock Holmes springs to mind. I played it for about 6 hours, trying to justify the PS+ membership, before simply stopping as it licked balls.
Now we have this month and the 'bountiful' selection of games it provides. That's sarcasm by the way. There are times when I've been disappointed but this is one of the first times I've been legitimately pissed off by the selection of 'hits' on offer. Three awful games I can play as a PS3 owner, all which I'm pretty sure have only been included because they have Cross-Buy, so PS4 owners still get them too. It's bullshit.
Anyway, I'm done ranting. Anyone else have PS+ and noticed a slow but steady decline in the quality of the service?
