don't get me started. When my class mates talk about passing their exams, usually you hear 'i'm awful at parking', to which I usually respond 'so you can't drive' lol. To park, you need car control and to be aware of what your car can do, if you don't, you can't drive. I saw an advert earlier (new Audi, not sure, I was annoyed after lol) but it was advertising it's brake assist, so if you were looking out of the window according to them (translation - playing with your phone) and are gonna crash, the car will stop itself. Right..... ok, so how would it do that? A scanning system. Brakes these days have improved, massively, but to come to a stop you're still going to need a good few metres, so following a car will technically be in the scanning zone, so your car will stop randomly, that's more dangerous. I always used to say to myself, a capable driver will always win in a race, but a few months ago, a robot beat a real life racing driver. That is the end of motorsport as we know it. Lol have you ever seen videos of random people parallel parking? It's hilarious lol most people (at least here in america) are absolutely terrible at it. Hell, some people can't even park going straight into a parking spot at a gas station. They have half the car in one spot and one in another lol but I digress... I completely agree with the braking assist. It teaches people that they don't really need to pay attention to the road because they think the car will save them... So they go ahead and text and eat while barely paying attention. Really the only type off assist I can tolerate is anti-lock brakes. That does come in handy sometimes in the snow and ice, but in some older cars where it's not that sophisticated, it could just be turned off or disconnected. Does anybody do this; see someone on their phone and roll your window down and shout at them? Lol. Those people need to be back handed... We need a thread for this kind of subject

We do drive on the right side... The correct side lol I think it would be too weird to drive a stick in a right drive car over there. I would destroy the transmission lol

I would destroy the transmission lol I didn't need assistant sensors to help me see this retort coming! But back to the Nissan... I'm pleased with how quick it is, and I'll be trying to find a way to improve the longevity of the front tyres without sacrificing pace from now on. Ultimately, driving flat out will outweigh trying to be easier on the tyres and fuel, since the drop off is so severe and the front tyres fall off so quickly compared to the MRs anyway... Besides, there's something about that strategy that may have it's own advantage... Not an exploitable one, but one that helps me claw a little bit of time back...

Criticizing driving assists on a road car is like criticizing a lighter for making fire easier. On most sport cars these can still be disabled so I don't see where is the problem ? (yeah auto braking is a bit much but it's more for low speeds and pedestrians safety, if it fulfills its purpose at least 1 out 10 it has its utility) Modern tech isn't all bad, we can now have three times the power out of a same sized one 50 years ago !

There's a difference between making it easier in, say the 80's, and today. A few decades ago, liscences weren't given out in corn flake boxes, the majority of people could really drive. If you've got assists (hydraulic brakes etc) that help capable drivers even more, great, but aids like that are quite frankly just for the useless who can't drive, and if that's the case, get them off the road lol.
Man and machiene, that's what it used to be, now, the computers are taken over. I see Terminator really happening in the next 5 years lol

I think there's just some backwards logic going on in the world. If these engineers focussed more on making technology that kept the driver's attention on, well... Driving, rather than technology that meant that drivers don't need to pay as much attention... there wouldn't be so much criticism.
Best example of this in cars today, when used properly, is Sat Navs. Although, I'd change them slightly so that they prompt you to be aware of the road/sign you require rather than telling you to go left/right in 100 yards... So its more of an educative tool that helps you LEARN a route better.

It's a slow steady integration of technology so people don't notice that the control of their vehicle is being taken from them. Cars can park themselves, they can brake themselves, pretty soon they'll be able to drive themselves. That's when driving dies, when your car becomes an automated shell that just takes you to work and back.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nQnXDaXt9Abm_ADfzJs_ILH0ChGEcNkg5MpT72kPxKc/edit#gid=0Just a quick tot up, i'll do some proper stats for race 1 as some didn't take pics So, regarding the test race, how did people find it, and any suggestions? Safety Car was a bit difficult, but still not as bad. This is what we'll do in future. - When the room is reset, all drivers will drive out of the pits, around the lap and park up at the start/finish line, in their starting boxes, then we'll go off on the pace lap, everyone should keep about 2-3 car lengths space between each other, as we approach the final sector everyone can bunch back up. Specs. LMP - Been suggested the Toyota's mass acceleration and Hybrid is too much and suggested it's brought down to 500BHP. Nissan, tyre wear is an issue, so a bit more power perhaps? GT3 - Merc needs nerfing a bit, need to look at the audi as it's possibly under powered

I suggest just having time progression as 1. At least then if we don't know what the start timer is in the lobby, we can use the in-game clock to ascertain when we started the race and when we'll finish. Although, if stewards states the lobby's time (top top right corner of the screen)or the SC driver sitting in pits takes a pic of the screen, that is useful for analysis and can be posted here for reference. I'm happy with the pace of the Nissan, but I feel the disadvantages of it being an FF need to be offset slightly... Sadly, it does mean that adding power is the only option to that car, so if people moan it's too quick in a straight line, just remember you can go 50% longer on a stint with less of a drop off in laptimes... As for the rest of LMP1 cars, what would people say about making them 950 kg to make them less agile? I'll be doing full tests of LMP1 and GT3 cars (among others ?) over the next few days to get a grasp of where they are at. I'm seeing that the Merc is definitely faster, and even with 410 bhp the Chevrolet is very kind to it's tyres while still being quick... Nissan seems slow and the front tyres take a bit of a beating. I'll be posting my analysis on here too, just so we've actually got something somewhat reliable to refer to.

So far this is what will most probably happen
Toyota will be dropped BHP slightly, Nissan given some to make up for tyre wear, Audi i'll look at as I've had no data for that.
GT3, merc needs nerfing a bit, Audi needs a bump.
I'll get that done tonight with any luck. If people are going to be testing, it's best to get a solid tune on your car that makes it easy to drive, and start preparing your tactics. Also, test in the rain too, big possibility we could see a wet track

Would it make sense to do some training sessions before the season starts? To avoid incidents do too bad driving. I know I could use some pointers
