Almost that. There are trying to sell us "awesome features" called Championship something and ProSeason, which is basically a single season (TBC) with an existing driver, which you could already do since 2010... ProSeason is the same except difficulty is on max; no assists, hardest AI, cockpit cam only. That's supposed to be the main feature. What. A. Joke. BTW if you win straight with Marussia you should consider increasing the difficulty, especially with the cheating AI in 2014 But I liked the career mode, and with all the added (small) features of 2015 (I think I read interviews are back ?) + new graphics + new physics (nope they won't fool anyone lol) it could've been fun.

Fact is that the best Codemasters F1 game is still 2010, followed by 2009 on the Wii. 2014 is good but not great.
You are right, with the new attempts at 'immersion' career mode, and even naming your own driver, have been scrapped to make way for glorified grid and podium cinematics. Why these games don't have a create a driver mode like the create a wrestler mode in WWE games for 15+ years is beyond me. But you can talk to your engineer now, that's supposedly the big new feature. Unless you can be a dick to your engineer like Hamilton I don't care... lol
Also, Manor Marussia are not in the game at launch, they are to be added after release in a patch...

The patch is already done, there are videos of Manor on the web already, like the new McLaren livery (YES! ). And I think the vocal command (if it works) is actually a pretty big deal (relatively speaking ). I've lost the count of when the engineer didn't tell me what I wanted (gaps, weather) and being forced to do finger contorsion to change pit strategy in the middle of the race when playing with the pad. Now it shouldn't be a problem anymore. 2014 was good but not worth the full price IMO. It seems to be a bit the same this year. Still don't know if I should encourage those changes, because apart from the above complains they DID put some noticeable efforts in other areas, or if I should wait for the game to be on sale. (And I'm craving for a new F1 game )

the radio messages will b a big let down. 'hold down triangle to select team radio, then use the d pad to choose from some options'. I can't see how you can tell the team to go fuck themselves when they get a call wrong lol

Truth is if they let you do it, then they should add what's next too, that is after the race you get heavily reprimanded by your track engineer, your team principle, your technical director, your team owner and Bernie. You then eventually get fired and you are very happy to be able to drive for Manor rather than quitting F1. Then your name slowly fades in fans mind and you loose half your followers on Twitter. You become the driver that used to be popular but no one cares about anymore. You later appear in the last page of the local newspaper because you died of a heart attack in your late 40's, only your close friends and family were at your funeral.
Lol
More seriously it was a good feature in GRID AS, I'm happy they add it to F1 too. It's just a matter of time before it develops and you'll be able to insult not only your team and crew but also other drivers on the track, Jean Todt and the FIA and the V6 engines (including special options for Renault and Honda). But not Bernie. Never insult Bernie. Ever.

that's what I had in mind too would be great. other drivers, 'ok, pastor is behind you' 'oh no, not that wrecking ball'. and if you insult Bernie the game gets wiped from your drive

That would be awesome, unfortunately the list of commands is quite basic. Box This Lap, Inform Pit Window, Driver In-Front, Driver Behind (those last two seem broken tbh, you can't ask that anymore in a race). There is Engineer Quiet though, so you can be Lewis but much more polite. If 'Yes, Yes, Yes, I know what I'm doing...' was there that's guaranteed buys...

Actually Ninja you're going to laugh because I did get the game and I just said "Leave me alone I know what I'm doing !" to the engineer and he understood and said "Ok copy that." ! Maybe even more hidden commands to find. Well now I have to find the command to make him speak again lol Next session I'm trying "Don't talk to me through the corners, man!"

Alain's focus is on the eDams side of things really. I know he's a Renault Ambassador, but even he must be coming to an end with F1. Simple fact is that Renault, over the last 2 seasons, have had nothing but grief. They lost Lotus as a customer at the end of last season, along with Caterham folding, taking them from supplying 4 teams to supplying 2, and now this year you've got the 'Christian Crybaby World Tour' in full effect. I thought he was bad last year complaining about other teams and their power units despite running illegal front wings in Abu Dhabi, but this year has been hilarious. You'd think he'd be used to losing being a prinicipal founder of the Arden team but it's almost as though he's never experienced this before.
Renault need their own team, or they should just pull out before Red Bull do. I'd rather see a Renault Factory Team like the good old days (pre-Piquet Jr. of course) than RBR crying around the globe.

Nooooooooooooooooooo. Lotus is Renault! argh, don't start me lol No, but i'd rather they ran under their own name, not taint one of the most iconic and glamorous teams in F1

Lotus WAS Renault, but with no Briatore and no Renault Engines it's kinda gone downhill for them. Well, maybe not with the whole Mercedes engine (I hate the term 'Power Unit') deal but Pastor Maldonado is a clear sign that you're not quite as good as you used to be.

exactly, that's why I dislike the team being called lotus (not so bad this season but last year it was awful)
That's technically all it is now though, a power unit due to the stupid hybrid. Not a living, working engine

Agreed. When it was engine companies developing engines revving to ridiculously high levels it was awesome. Now it's all about managing torque and tyres. We need proper engines and a tyre war, like the glory days. In 2005 drivers had to take a set of tyres through one-shot qualifying and then a full race distance. You could only change a tyre if it was faulty or dangerous to run.

oh, that reminds me, seen the proposed rules for refuelling?
I loved it, very tactical and always kept the race on it's toes, but they will introduce it, but keep the fuel flow limit, so it technically won't have an effect now, you can't put in some flying laps on a low tank without going over that fuel usuage limit. Usetting

Usetting Why mate ? A lighter car is a quicker car no matter what (and less tyre deg ), especially because they want to lighten the cars for 2017. It's exciting not to know how fast each car will go depending on fuel load and strategy ! I'd like the tyre war back too, but that won't happen and I'm almost sure Pirelli will keep the deal. BTW on the International edition of Motorsport.com that I linked above it's roughly a transcription of the full video interview we have of Prost on the French edition and he talks a bit about this stuff, I think it would be good for F1 if people like him had more influence on the sport. To sum up: Regarding Michelin's come back he says that he's 100% for opening the competition to tyre manufacturers because competition is the essence of F1, be it tyres, constructors or drivers. He thinks there will be no problem with the 18" they want to introduce and everybody will get used to quickly. He thinks tyre regulations needs a massive overhaul anyway, no more quick wearing, no more mandatory compound change, etc... and he is in favor of freedom for the teams and the compound they want to use for both show and rewarding the teams that worked well on tyre management.

the car will be lighter but to me it's not the same. I like the driver being able to just put their foot down and go.
I can't see tyre competition. The Pirelli tyres are awful but that's because they have to be. They're meant to degrade quicker and it's not their fault, Bernie calls the shots. If there was competition, each manufacture would try getting more and more life in their tyres and we'll be back to bernies stopping it all again
